Farrar's - No troublemakers!
Hi
I refer to "Peace Lovers" letter of 17 February 2010.
Perhaps Peace Lover has not had the opportunity to view some of the proof the Farrar's have regarding the problem with stand 324. They really should hear more and will find it most interesting as we did. Admittedly, we thought all this was unnecessary but out of frustration we understand their reasoning.
And so by the way - they are very neighbourly. Perhaps the owner of stand 324 is not “neighbourly” otherwise he would have followed the guidelines. I really love Mr & Mrs XYZ comparison they made about the aircraft carrier. Best one I’ve heard in a long time.
I wonder if the security incident everybody talks about (near old crusher site) happened to "King Rann" - nobody wants to give any details but I see he has two huge search lights permanently on at night.
I saw today for the first time a guard with a dog. I think this is brilliant idea as I saw on the official website that the security incidents are thought to be inside jobs.
Cheers

Expose board members that don't get the job done
Hi everybody
I refer to Mr & Mrs XYZ's mail.
Myself and a few other people I know, have this feeling that the board members seems more like one big happy family instead. I think that some of them let their feelings run the show instead of facts. The whole board when presented with the facts regarding stand 324 should have sought clarity and accountability and sorted this problem out way back last year?
Obviously there were board decisions made here by some of them without due process or in fact informing others on the board. My guess they all stick together and protect the ones who may have made a poor decision. I agree with Mr & Mrs XYZ that all home owner members should know who these board members were. The board, although not elected correctly in my opinion, for reasons best known to the chairman, have to have a more responsible approach.
I know and acknowledge that board members do this job for no re-numeration. They were elected by all of us and the least we expect is that they will leave their personal agendas in the cupboard when they go to board meetings and concentrate solely on the facts presented to them and on the prevailing problems. If there was a problem with the building committee's decision made regarding stand 324, then the remainder of the board member should have insisted that the issue be resolved once and for all and to the book without the building committee present. This is what a lot of companies do when there is an incident like this and for a good reason. I don't think this happened in this case but I may be wrong? I also don't think our board members follow the nameless "paper vote" procedure were-by all votes are anonymous.
I know 3 or 4 of our board members and I will back them as being conscientious and good people. Some of the others may be letting the whole team down. It would be unkind and incorrect to paint the entire board with the same brush. In no way do I imply that the Farrar’s have done this.
Looking at proceedings at last year AGM, I think there are a few “big dog” egos’ all wanting us believe in their bark.
Goodbye

Bending of rules
Hello
I refer to Spiro and Jakes previous mails.
I agree totally with Spiro regarding the owner that was allowed to throw his concrete slab until 10H00 at night. At one stage these workers sat around for about 50 minutes (in darkness) as the lights they were using were turned of while they were waiting for the next cement truck to arrive. This is total nonsense and unsafe for the rest of us!! Also these trucks keep on setting of my security alarm.
Jake, I assume is a board member? If you want to improve security let's go back to the old days. We were told under no circumstances will anybody be allowed to work on their houses or properties with a crew during week ends and holidays or in fact after hours. Why is this rule not in force any more? No wonder there are more security incidents .

Why are cement trucks allowed in at 9H00 at night - yet again and again?
Hi
On Wednesday night 10 March 2010, the main gate let in quite a few cement trucks after 6H00. As the site to which these trucks were delivering was up past our house, I got in my car at 9H00 to see what was going on. At the top of Lourie street there were about 14 men still busy working with this house. On my way to the gate I passed another truck on it's way up and after enquiring at the security at the main gate as to who gave permission to this and how many more trucks are going to be allowed in, the answer was that Deon Oosthuizen gave permission and that there was still another 3 trucks on their way. This is not the only incident of this kind and what Spiro is talking about (casting slab on 10H00 at night) is also true as it was the property next door to mine.
I know that you can't stop casting once you started, but we were told that you have to plan it that the last truck is in at 5H00 otherwise you must reschedule for another day. If all of us could cast our slabs in normal working hours, I don't see what is wrong with these building operations. Talk about friends in high places.
Please can any one tell me where I can find the guidelines which are only applicable to these privileged few because I am very sure I must have been given the wrong book.
Come on please! - make your minds up - we all live here!!

RENEW ACCESS CARDS BEFORE THE END OF THE WEEK!!
Hi Everybody,
Please make sure that your access cards are renewed before the end of the week. The decision to renew owners access cards were not taken just for nuisance sake. There were a couple of incidents whereby home owners gave non residents access cards and goods were stolen.
Owners can also apply for frequent visitor's cards for regular visitors instead of giving them resident cards - which is no longer allowed by the way. It is quite a simply procedure whereby owners must just fill in a form with the card numbers in their possession and submit it to the front desk.
New measures regarding security have been put in place and the existing service provider is being monitored very closely for signs of non compliance.
There will be a vehicle permanently and solely for armed response in our estate from the 1st March 2010. This vehicle is solely for armed response and not used as a shuttle service as before.
If people pick up any non compliance from any guard, please post it on this blog or send it to Deon, copying any board member for it to be investigated and dealt with. The board will deal with it!!
There are residents who are not complying with regulations. Last weekend they smuggled contractors into the estate with no records taken of them and leaving them on site by themselves. This creates a security risk for all of us. We asked all owners to be on the look out for these types of incidents and report it ASAP to the guard house.
Also the top gate (Soetdoring) is for the use of residents only as there is no control at this gate for visitors! Please be so kind as to inform your visitors before hand to make use of the main gate to avoid clashes with security! This is in the interest of all residents!!
Regards
Jakes

First two alias board members on board!
Hi mense,
I must say that interest in the blog is picking up well. We have our second board member join. I also welcome Blou Bulle, Jakes, Peace Lover, Rose, Gringo, Sharky, Uiljie and Snorrebaard to our blog and hope that we will have positive and interesting input from them.
Is it just me or are the mosquitos and the flies far worst this year than the last? I don't know how many we have killed - "OOPS" perhaps this is forbidden? SORRY! I'll hug the next one.

Stand 324?
Hi Ciarra,
I'm concerned that the issue regarding the Farrar's complaint is blown up out of proportion and not very neighbourly.
The Board is comprised of volunteers who offer themselves free of charge. They are human and if they make mistakes it is only human.
Although I did not like the way the board members were elected at the last AGM, perhaps this year should be mandatory. Applicants for board members were not called to the front and voted on by the people individually like the year before which I admit seems unconstitutional. We must remember that there are and will be always new residents.
Peace Lover

Big out cry about stand 324!!
Hi everybody
As you can see I have worked until late. I did not expect this sudden flow of letters coming in after I posted the photo of the problem house on stand 324. I know a lot of you did not register at first, but followed my blog.
However I have received a lot more letter with your request for registration and publishing of your various letters regarding your views on this problem. I will have to verify details of all owners first before I will be able to publish your letters. I promise to be as quick as I possibly can.
I also see that the "management" wants to start their own blog now. Wonder why? I call it hardly "updating" when the events on the website still reads "Easter egg hunt April 2009". Say no more .....
Keep you updated

What's with the board and stand 324?
My sympathy to the Farrar's about what is going on between the board, owner of stand 324 and them.
I and many other home owners have seen facts regarding this matter, but for some reason the board wants to distance itself from this matter.
The board have a responsibility here which they cannot just wipe away. The Farrar's have been complaining ever since before building started on stand 324. The board also had surveyor Mr Frik Visser's report in their hands before the owner of stand 324 started building his first floor. The Farrar's have the proof of this on tape, photos and on paper.
How far does the board want home owners to actually go to safeguard themselves against this type of incident? The fact is that the board won't lift a finger unless it involves or is a disadvantage to a board member. Why is it that some people get away with things and others are not allowed to?
At the moment we have a lot of security issues. Wonder why? Let me tell you - gone is the days that contractors do not get access after 5H30, or maybe I should say only for "some home owners" throwing concrete slabs until 10h00 at night!!! Neighbours can confirm this fact and no security to watch these workers!!
My suggestion is as follows - you have the facts on stand 324 - do something about it! You make the rules regarding security - no contractors after 5h30 - stick to it - irrespective of who the owner is!! We all have eyes and we can see clearly what's going on here.
Maybe we should call a home owners meeting (without the board) present to discuss all these "funnies" that is going on all the time. I think I am correct if I say we can call for "no confidence" in the board?
Cheers
Spiro

What is the board actually thinking?
Hallo
I have just read the news letter of January 2010 on the estate website. I cannot believe what I read here - "it is necessary to ensure compliance with the Architectural Guidelines in all respects". Come on board members "get a life".
We are all awaiting you decision on the "stand 324" case? Let's have that printed first before you come tell us what you want to do!! Let's see if there are rules for some and other rules for others?
On the indigenous plants only side, what a joke that kukuyu grass is banned when it is growing well in many parts of the estate especially the dam walls.

Now there is somehing to think about!
Hallo
My wife and I went walking to the upper reaches of the estate last week to view this contraversial stand and I am really wondering why the owner of stand 324 has not been stopped. The velt side of this house looks like the front of an aircraft carrier and not very natural at all. The side perimeter walls are made from steel reinforced concrete to obviously hold back the ground which has been brought in, and there is a lot of it.
I have seen some documentation and the surveyor's reports from the Farrars and am flabbergasted as to why the board is not doing anything about this case? Is this a scenario where some of the board members have slipped up and the rest of the board is now covering up for them? If this is the case I think most home owners would like to know who was actually involved in this because this will govern the decision that we all have to take with the next AGM.
I think it is actually disgraceful that the board will tell some home owners to follow the rules, make some folks break things down or take plants out, but others can do what they like and that's how it is. I guess perhaps it depends on who you know?
The board should make a decision - rules for all or rules for none!!!!!!!!!!!!
All we "commoners" want is a board comprised of men of substance and not of straw.

Requests to meet in person
Hi Everybody,
I'm receiving more and more requests from various people to meet in person. In order to protect my privacy and for me to stay totally unbiased, I have decided that the only way members can communicate with me is through my e-mail. This will be better for everybody in the long run.
I also have a lot of e-mails requesting to know actually what is going on with the "Adrian and Rynette" saga. Well in short, they have filed complaints (starting in December 2008) to the board about the landfill and height of the dwelling on stand 324 in front of them. They were made to believe that the "full board" was involved, only to find out later this was not the case. I know that the Farrar's had a meeting with the "full board" in December 2009 and that the board scheduled a meeting with the owner of stand 324 in the new year. But what is happening - I do not know - I only know that this owner is still carrying on building (saw it yesterday) even though the problem is not resolved. I will try and get some more details and post it on the blog. Attached is a photo of this "problem" house for your comment.

First photo of Darren Farrar
I was told this morning by Rynette, Darren Farrar's mom, that it was the first morning she is not battling to get him out of bed and off to school. He is just so happy that he can share he's "snap" love with us all.
Well, Darren assured me that he has a lot more photo's and he will try and e-mail us at least 3 - 4 photo's a month. Good work Darren!
Remember - smile because your'e on Candit camera!
